Custom Vinyl Number Decals for Vehicles, Fleets & Equipment
Need clean, easy-to-read numbers for a car, truck, trailer, piece of equipment, or sign? Custom Vinyl Number Decals let you enter the numbers you need, choose a font, color, and size, and create lettering that is cut directly from solid-color vinyl.
There is no printed background around the finished numbers. Once they're applied, only the vinyl characters remain on the surface, giving fleet numbers, identification numbers, addresses, racing numbers, and equipment labels a clean, professional appearance.
How Vinyl Number Decals Work
Vinyl Number Decals are part of our Transfer Decal family. Instead of printing your numbers onto a piece of sticker material, we cut them from solid-color adhesive vinyl. The unused vinyl around and inside the characters is removed, leaving only the numbers you ordered.
Transfer tape is then applied over the finished numbers. It holds the characters together and keeps their spacing and alignment in place while you position the decal. After the vinyl has been applied to the surface, you remove the transfer tape and only the numbers remain.
This makes vinyl numbering a good fit when you want the numbers themselves on the surface without a surrounding sticker background.
Made for Vehicle and Fleet Numbering
Vehicle use is one of the most common reasons to choose Vinyl Number Decals. They work well for fleet identification, truck numbers, trailer numbers, unit numbers, service vehicles, rental equipment, racing numbers, and other applications where clear identification matters.
They can also be used for equipment identification, machinery, storefronts, address numbers, windows, signs, and other suitable smooth surfaces.
If you're numbering several vehicles or pieces of equipment, you don't have to create every number as a completely separate order. The design tool supports number ranges and CSV lists, making it easier to create a sequence or provide a list of different numbers for the same project.
Choose the Font, Color & Size
Your numbers don't have to look generic. Choose the font, vinyl color, and finished size that work for your project. You can match existing vehicle graphics, choose a high-contrast color for easier visibility, or size the numbers to fit the available space on a door, window, trailer, machine, or sign.
Because these are cut from solid-color vinyl rather than printed, the vinyl color you select becomes the color of the finished numbers.
If you need words, names, phone numbers, or longer text instead of primarily numeric identification, our Vinyl Lettering Decals are designed for that type of project.
Outdoor-Rated Vinyl Without Lamination
Vinyl Number Decals are made from cut vinyl, so they don't need a printed surface or laminate. Standard Vinyl Colors are made from 2.5 mil vinyl and have a documented outdoor durability of 6 years. Other available vinyl materials may have different durability ratings, so outdoor life depends on the material you select.
Those durability values are material ratings rather than a promise that every installation will last the same amount of time. Exposure, surface condition, installation, weather, and use can all affect real-world performance.
Choose a Surface That Gives the Vinyl Good Contact
Vinyl numbering works best on a clean, smooth surface where the adhesive can make consistent contact. Glass, suitable painted panels, metal, and many smooth plastic surfaces are common applications.
Before applying your numbers, make sure the area is clean and dry. A good surface and careful installation help the individual characters stay firmly in place after the transfer tape is removed.
Custom Numbers Without a Minimum Order
Whether you need one identification number or a larger set for a fleet or equipment program, there is no minimum quantity. Enter the numbers you need, customize the look, and order the quantity that fits your project.
Free standard U.S. shipping is included. If you want clean, single-color numbers with no surrounding background, Vinyl Number Decals give you a straightforward way to create exactly what you need.

What size should my Vinyl Number Decals be for a vehicle or equipment?
Start by measuring the area where the numbers will go, then think about how far away they need to be read. Give the characters enough room to stay clear and legible without crowding the available space. For fleet or equipment numbering, it can also help to use the same size and placement across similar vehicles or machines for a consistent look.
What does “picks” mean when ordering Vinyl Number Decals?
A “pick” is a small piece of unwanted vinyl that has to be removed by hand after your numbers are cut. For example, the enclosed areas inside numbers such as 0, 6, 8, and 9 may need to be removed during production. This process is called weeding, and designs with more small interior pieces require more production work.
How should I prepare the surface before applying Vinyl Number Decals?
Apply your numbers to a clean, dry, smooth surface. Remove dirt, dust, grease, and other residue before installation so the adhesive can make good contact with the surface. Once the area is clean and dry, position the decal using the transfer tape, apply the vinyl, and then remove the transfer tape to leave the numbers in place.
What is transfer tape and how does it work?
Transfer tape is a clear application film that holds your decal together during installation. It keeps letters and design elements aligned so you can position the decal accurately.
Once the decal is applied to the surface, the transfer tape is removed, leaving only the vinyl design behind.
